Tramp, Tramp, Tramp
63 minutes 1926 USA Unrated New original score performed live by Robbie Fulks and Danny Barnes! Wednesday May 17th 8:00pm Just in time for Mother's Day weekend, the criminally underseen slapstick gem starring Harry Langdon, with a brand new score performed live by Americana music mavericks Robbie Fulks and Danny Barnes. In TRAMP, TRAMP, TRAMP, poor Harry makes one last desperate attempt to save his father's failing bootmaking business by entering a cross-country footrace. The only things standing between Harry and the $25,000 prize (not to mention the young and gorgeous Joan Crawford) are his infantile outlook on life, a ridiculously un-buffed physique, a chain gang, and a cyclone. When TRAMP, TRAMP, TRAMP was released in 1926, the film's success rocketed him into heady critical comparisons with Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, and Charlie Chaplin. "The fourth genius of screen comedy. Langdon's character stared at the world like a startled white mouse. He was a completely individual comedian and a brilliant pantomimist." Kevin Brownlow |

F*ck
93 minutes 2005 USA In English Unrated
Friday Apr 21 10:00 PM The origin and uses of the English languages favorite curse word, featuring enthusiastic purveyors such as comedian Billy Connolly, rapper/actor Ice T and filmmaker Kevin Smith, mixed in with folks like Miss Manners, Ron Jeremy, Pat Boone and Hunter S. Thompson. A film that, in the wrong hands, could have been a f*cking mess is given visual zip with animation (from Bill Plympton) and creative use of some amazingly funny historic footage. But its the calvacade of great interviews that carries the film and helps it find its voice. With theories of origin (most of which are proven wrong), a clever guide to proper usage and, finally, some real insight into the political power of words, this film is guaranteed to offend some and leave others chortling in their seats. Holy Modal Rounders...Bound to Lose
87 minutes 2005 USA In English Unrated Sunday Apr 23 1:00 PM A tale of musical passion, collaborative spirit, and missed opportunities as seen through an outlandish group who married early psychedelia with American roots music and somehow lasted 40 years. What a long, strange trip its been When fiddler Peter Stampfel teamed up with guitarist Steve Weber in the early 60s, the two eccentric musicians didnt know they were setting out on a fourdecade musical adventure. Dubbing themselves the Holy Modal Rounders, the two shared a fascination with both American roots music and early psychedelia. This film does more than chronicle an obscure band filmmakers Sam Douglas and Paul Lovelace have created an engaging, revealing portrait of musical passion, collaborative spirit, missed opportunities and the fickleness of life. With appearances by Dennis Hopper, John Sebastian, Peter Tork of the Monkees, music editor Robert Christgau of The Village Voice and playwright (and former Rounders drummer) Sam Shepard, Bound to Lose is a mustsee no matter what your musical persuasion.
